Caring for your skin after Signature Massage Therapy
What to expect, what helps, and what is worth telling us about.
Lymphatic drainage keeps working after the session, so the most useful things you can do are drink and move gently.
- Drink plenty of water for the rest of the day.
- Expect to need the bathroom more often — that is the point.
- Eat lightly, and go easy on salt, alcohol and caffeine for the rest of the day.
- Move gently: a walk is ideal, but skip intense exercise for the rest of the day.
- Skip saunas, hot tubs and very hot showers for the rest of the day.
- Wear loose clothing rather than anything tight, unless compression has been advised for you.
- Feeling tired, warm or a little light-headed afterwards is normal and settles with rest and water.
Tell us if you have swelling, pain or shortness of breath — and please tell us beforehand about any heart, kidney or circulatory condition, or any active infection.
General guidance for this treatment, not a personal care plan. The instructions your practitioner gives you at your appointment come first — follow those. If anything worries you afterwards, contact the clinic.
