If you have seen the term 黄金微针 on our Chinese-language pages, the English name for it is Morpheus8, an RF microneedling treatment. At Minori Skincare on West 29th Street in Manhattan, a session takes about 90 minutes. Ultra-fine needles carry fractional radiofrequency energy to several depths beneath the skin surface, which is what separates this treatment from a plain microneedling treatment.

How a visit runs

Your appointment follows four steps: a consultation with a skin analysis and an honest plan, a gentle cleanse and preparation, the treatment itself performed by a certified specialist, and aftercare guidance for the days that follow.

A topical anesthetic is applied before the treatment begins. Most people describe the sensation as warmth, pressure, and mild pinching. Because the energy is delivered fractionally, the surrounding tissue is left undisturbed.

Who it may suit

Morpheus8 may suit you if you are looking at mild to moderate skin laxity, uneven skin texture, enlarged pores, stretch marks, jawline definition, neck rejuvenation, or the early signs of aging. It can be used on both the face and the body, and it is considered suitable for a wide range of skin types when it is performed by a trained provider.

What to expect

Changes in skin texture may start to become noticeable within a few weeks, and they often become more apparent after three to six weeks and continue for up to three months as the tissue remodels. A typical course is three to four treatments spaced four to six weeks apart, though your provider may recommend more or fewer.

Expect two to five days of recovery. Flushed skin, some swelling, and a sandpaper-like texture are common at first, and a faint grid pattern may be visible for a short while. Your skin should be kept clean and hydrated, with broad-spectrum SPF 30+ applied daily and direct sun exposure minimised for a few days. Makeup is avoided for 24 hours unless your provider says otherwise, and strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot tubs are avoided for the first day or two.

Morpheus8 is not a substitute for surgery, and it does not address concerns outside the list above. Some things make the treatment unsuitable, including pregnancy or breastfeeding, active skin infection or open wounds, certain implanted electronic medical devices, uncontrolled medical conditions, current or recent isotretinoin use, and a history of poor wound healing or a tendency to raised keloid marks.
