What Is Hydradermabrasion in NYC?

5 November 2026

The liquid-and-suction technique behind the HydraFacial: what a visit involves, who it suits, and what it cannot do.

Hydradermabrasion is a facial technique that works with liquid and vacuum suction rather than with abrasive crystals or a hand instrument. At Minori it is the method behind the HydraFacial, and our technology page describes that device as a non-invasive hydradermabrasion platform built around a spiral HydroPeel tip and a Vortex-Fusion vacuum delivery system. In practice it means three things happen in one pass rather than one thing happening three times.

How it differs from crystal microdermabrasion A crystal microdermabrasion machine pushes an abrasive surface against the skin to take the outer layer down. The spiral tip at the centre of this platform works differently: it loosens dulling surface buildup and dead skin cells with a gentle glycolic-salicylic solution, and the vacuum delivery draws blackheads, oil and debris out of T-zone and cheek pores without manual pinching. Hyaluronic acid, peptides and antioxidant serums are then delivered into the freshly treated skin.

What a visit involves A HydraFacial Signature at our NoMad studio runs 70 minutes and moves through the same four steps as every appointment here: a consultation with a skin analysis and an honest plan, a gentle cleanse and prep, the treatment itself with a certified specialist, and aftercare guidance to take home. The 90-minute Platinum tier adds facial lymphatic drainage, a corrective booster ampoule and LED light therapy.

Who it may suit Our service page describes the treatment as suitable for clogged pores, blackheads, T-zone oiliness, dehydration and dullness, across all skin types, and it is often chosen ahead of an event. It suits people who want a facial with no downtime. The treatment is comfortable throughout, and extractions can feel briefly sharp, so you can ask for a lighter touch at any point.

What it cannot do This is a facial. It is not an energy-based or needling procedure, and it does not reach the deeper structural concerns those treatments are used for. It is also not a substitute for a dermatologist's assessment of a concern that is persistent or worsening. A few things change the plan rather than the outcome: active skin infection, broken skin, a recent sunburn, and recent procedures that still need to heal. We ask about medications, allergies and pregnancy before the session starts.

A consultation decides whether this is the right treatment for your skin, and the plan is confirmed against your skin, your history and your medications before anything goes ahead. Book one at Minori's NoMad studio in Manhattan.
