Sensitive Skin Treatment in NYC

29 October 2026

A gentle 60-minute facial at Minori's NoMad studio in Manhattan, built for reactive, sensitised skin that needs gentle barrier work.

Reactive skin is skin that reacts faster than it settles. It flushes easily, it stings at the first new active, and it can feel raw for reasons that are hard to pin down. Minori's Sensitive Skin Repair facial is built around that kind of skin: a gentle, restorative treatment formulated for reactive and sensitive skin, with barrier repair and deep calm listed among its aims.

The session runs 60 minutes and follows the same four steps as the studio's other facials: a consult, a prepare, a treatment, and aftercare guidance. The consult is a skin analysis and an honest plan tailored to your goals. The prepare stage is a gentle cleanse and prep. The treatment itself is cleansing, gentle exfoliation and massage. Afterwards you leave with aftercare guidance rather than a list of products to buy.

Comfort is part of the design. The treatment page notes that the treatment is comfortable throughout, that extractions where they are needed can feel briefly sharp, and that you can tell your therapist at any time if you would like a lighter touch. That matters for sensitised skin, where pressure and product strength are the two things most likely to cause a flare.

There is a short list of things that will change the plan, and the studio asks about them before anything happens: pregnancy or breastfeeding, active infection, cold sores, sunburn or broken skin in the area, prescription retinoids or recent isotretinoin, and recent injectables, peels or laser work. Where any of these apply, the treatment is adapted or moved to a better time rather than performed as usual.

Aftercare is deliberately minimal. Skin may look a little flushed for a short while, so the rest of the day is kept simple: gentle cleansing, moisturiser and daily sunscreen. Strong exfoliating acids and retinoids are left alone for a few days, and saunas, steam rooms and intense exercise are skipped for the first 24 hours.

What this treatment cannot do is worth saying plainly. It is a facial, not a device-based treatment, and it does not reach the deeper structural concerns that energy-based and needling treatments are used for. It is also not a substitute for a dermatologist's assessment of a concern that is persistent or worsening. If you are unsure whether your skin is sensitive or simply irritated, that is a question for the consultation.

A consultation decides the approach. Book one at Minori's NoMad studio in Manhattan, and the treatment plan is confirmed against your skin, your history and your medications before anything goes ahead.
